This gouache painting of a deer family doesn’t just add beauty to your space; it also symbolizes family, connection, and wellness. Over the years, I’ve drawn and painted many deer, and they’ve become some of my favorite animals. Their elegance and gentle nature never fail to enchant me.

For this piece, I chose a large Asian folding fan surrounded by delicate tree-tops, evoking the deer’s woodland home—a place of safety and belonging. I have used soft greens and shimmering metallic gold to create a special atmosphere.

In the painting, the deer family rests among the trees: the parents stay watchful while the fawn peacefully naps. As parents, we all recognize that quiet vigilance—the way we guard our little ones as they sleep, safe and content.

Rich in the (Fengshui) wood element, the fan and woodland setting bring natural harmony, while metallic accents in gold, bronze, and silver add a touch of luxury. There are enough earthy tones of sage and ochre to ground the symbolic painting.
