Sashiko One Mug Warmer
A perfect Sashiko-themed mug warmer—a Cosy-Cozy—for those who love Sashiko needle folk-art.
Sashiko is Japanese folk art. It brings calm and features classical decorative patterns. It’s also strangely addictive: once you start a project, you soon feel the urge to try the next pattern.
Sashiko -a Japanese decorative embroidery technique -uses a running stitch to create ornate indigo-blue fabric pieces. Traditionally, white thread is used, though multiple colours can also be employed.
The technique is known for its beautiful geometric patterns—such as waves, mountains, bamboo, diamonds, hexagons, or flowers—which serve as decoration.
Next to making Sashiko cloths, I designed a postcard with a Sashiko pattern and the text Sashiko With Love. At the start of the pandemic, I printed this design on fabric, and Sashiko lovers—needle-savvy as they are—turned this design into face masks.
Marga made this unique Sashiko Cosy-Cozy to keep your coffee, matcha, or tea warm (perhaps while you work on your next Sashiko project?)
