Wood Ducks Gouache Painting

This is an original painting of a Wood duck couple that shows a colourful border surrounding a nature scene with a duck and drake.

The ducks are resting at the end of a wood, overlooking a large lake that is filled with cattails. The border shows coloured leaves. The drake stands guard whilst his duck takes a break from breading inside a tree cavity. She checks the surroundings. Soon they will be parents to many ducklings.

The wood duck is a species of perching duck found in North America. The drake wood duck is one of the most colourful North American waterfowl.

This original painting is by Dutch artist Paula Kuitenbrouwer and done in graphite and waterpaints.
