Koi Carp Original Gouache Painting

I painting this Kumamoto Japanese inspired hanging scroll to tell a story.

I chose a Japanese wave pattern for the Tenchi section of the painting. For the Chumawashi border, I painted flowers. And for the Ichimonji border, I painted butterflies. Butterflies symbolize hope. Koi carp symbolize prosperity.

This is an eye catching, large, colourful and labour intensive painting. It begs to be studied in detail. It invites your narrative and interpretations of symbols. Let it become your life story.

Framed and hanged on a wall, with an Ikebana flower arrangement placed in front of it, will provide you with an 'Asian' corner in your home.
