Butterflies are Symbols of Hope

€ 75,00

A minimalist but symbolic butterfly drawing with coloured pencils and many tiny details. This is not an art print, but an original.

The two butterflies showcase complementary colours. The orange one is a Comma (Polygonia c-album), and the blue one is a Purple Emperor. Orange and blue are complementary colours that create a balance of opposing associations. Like (orange) fire and (bluish) ice, or earth and air. Together, blue and orange harmonize warmth and coolness.

The butterflies flutter near a dangling branch intertwined with brambles. Though the flower is now gone, the fruits have ripened. Butterflies symbolize hope. Brambles are a delightful treat, albeit with a few scratches from their sharp prickles. Life’s sweetest rewards often come with a touch of difficulty. Hope and hardship go hand-in-hand.

The essence of this artwork lies in a fleeting scene in nature, observed by Paula Kuitenbrouwer. She has painted he moment of two visiting buttterflies near a brambles bush.

Do you pause to admire a butterfly? Please do, because once you spot them, it's essential to relish the moment. Blink, and they might be gone, but they always inspire a story—be it a symbolic, seasonal, or purely aesthetic one.

The drawing comes with a mount (passe partout) measuring 30 x 30 cm (12 x 12 inches).

It makes for a delightful gift filled with detail.
