A family of three living in Ireland. How to say this without words?
Wrens, Troglodytes troglodytes, a name that comes from Ancient Greek words meaning "cave-dweller" or "one who creeps into holes', is Ireland national bird. Why? Because it is a small bird but a tough one! It stays during the winter in Ireland and it can live almost everywhere. Irelands weather is rather fluctuation, but this tough bird doesn't matter. It happily seeks shelter if needed.
Ireland is actually the Shamrock, The shamrock is a small, three-leafed plant belonging to the clover family (Trifolium). The word comes from the Irish seamróg, meaning "little clover". The legend related to this small plant is that Saint Patrick reportedly used the three leaves to explain the Holy Trinity (Father, Son, and Holy Spirit) during his missionary work in Ireland.
I have left the tree branch without leaves because it is early spring: the shamrock turns green. This makes the weren happy.
Did you know the Romans went all the way to Ireland. They looked around, called it 'Hibernia' (winter-hibernating) and left? They couldn't stand the weather. The Vikings on the other hand had no problems with Ireland and happily settled there. Dublin and many other harbour town have Viking history.
Combining Ireland's national bird and national flower, in a chatty scene of three wrens, symbolized a happy family of three living in Ireland.
